Church History

The congregation for our church was already well established but split over the New School / Old School Presbyterian schism in 1843.

The portion of the Liberty congregation that was New School is from where our congregation takes its roots. New School beieved in "free will", revivalism and was opposed to slavery. They built a new church in the town of Liberty in 1844. It is the sanctuary we use today.

There is a rich history that covers the period from 1844 to 2023 which you can read in this link: Bedford Presbyterian Church History
