Web Page-Welcome

Welcome to the Bedford Presbyterian Church web page. We hope that the resources you find here will eventually lead you into our wonderful congregation. We believe our Church has much to offer people who are looking for an evangelical congregation with a more traditional style worship service. But that is only part of what you will find when you arrive. You will also be welcomed by a friendly community of involved people from all flavors of the Christian faith – Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian – and hailing from all parts of the country – from California to New Jersey and certainly also from Virginia.

As a Church we try to both teach and daily live out our motto: Loving God, Loving Others, Serving the World, and Growing Disciples.  For this reason, both worship services and Sunday School classes are done with an open Bible, looking to see what ageless truths God has to share with our modern culture.

A unique feature you will find on this website is a page called “All the Stories of the Bible,” in which you will find .pdf text copies of a sermon series begun over two years ago to help us modern Christians learn that all those stories and heroes of the Old and New Testaments we first met in Sunday School still have valuable lessons to teach us.   If you want to find out if there really ever were two persons named Adam and Eve, or if the walls of Jericho were really brought down with a shout, then this is the page worth checking out.

We also have many other resources on this website to share with you. As we said earlier, we pray that your explorations here will eventually lead you to our door, as reality is always so much better than anything virtual.

Sincerely, Rev. John Salley, Pastor

About Our ChurchChurch1

Who We Are

The members and friends of Bedford Presbyterian Church welcome all persons, regardless of race, ethnic heritage, or Christian background.   However, believing that the Bible’s moral standards supersede cultural standards we do restrict membership to those who are in agreement with and attempting to live by Biblical standards for lifestyle and marriage.  You can read more about this in our Purpose Statement

About the Presbyterian Church med1God comes to us in free and undeserved favor in the person of Jesus Christ who lived, died, and rose for us that we might belong to God and serve Christ in the world. Following Jesus, Presbyterians are engaged in the world and in seeking thoughtful solutions to the challenges of our time.

Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus

Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christ’s disciples, called to ministry in his name, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to be Christ’s faithful disciples in the world.
