DISCIPLESHIP
Jesus Christ has summoned us to be His disciples. What does that mean? It means that we are His students. Jesus is our teacher and the Bible is our text book. Being a student involves learning what Jesus and the Bible tells us about how to live the Christian way of life. It also involves putting into practice what we have learned so that we can live our lives more successfully. On one occasion, Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). We help our church family to become disciples of Jesus Christ in a number of ways.
- Sunday Morning Sermons—We faithfully proclaim God’s Word each Sunday. It is available as a recording on our website. It is also available as a downloadable manuscript for study and reflection.
- Something More—This is an opportunity to dig a little deeper into God’s Word as we review the sermon which was shared with the church family the previous Sunday. It meets in a small group setting at the church on Wednesdays at 3:00 pm.
- Preschool and Elementary Education—During the worship service the church provides a nursery for children from infancy through age 4. The pastor has a Children's Message where children are invited down front to join him. After this time, children in grades Kindergarten through grade 3 may attend Children's Church on the ground floor.
- Ecumenical Youth Group—Our church has partnered with five other congregations to provide a discipleship ministry to the youth of our churches and the Bedford community. It’s a comprehensive approach to sharing the essentials of the Christian faith with middle and high school students.
- Self Study —Perhaps when you were young your learned some of the important stories of the Bible. Perhaps not. While these stories resonated as children, there is more to them and you can now expand your understanding as an adult. See the weekly sermons text in our worship section. If you start at the bottom of the list, that is the story that even before creation, there was God. Our sermon series started there in 2019 and continued from there. All the other ones are there as well. Work your way up the list, or pick and choose. Have your Bible at the ready and dig in!
