Plans are coming together for our year-long celebration of 175 years "In the HEART of Bedford."   A significant milestone in the community.

On February 10, BPC will Celebrate Scout Sunday by recognizing Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops 183, sponsored by Bedford Presby. and St. John's Epis. Churches. Scouting has long been an important part of our church and community. Scout Troop 183 is celebrating its 60th year in 2019; but scouting actually began ten years prior.  10 am Worship Service.

 

On March 16, join us for an Afternoon Tea at Historic Avenel.  This historic landmark in Bedford and it's owners were important to the early period of Bedford Presbyterian Church.  We will have heavy hors d'oeuvres and a musical performance by Riddle On The Harp2 pm to 4 pm.  Tickets for this event are $10.   LynchburgTickets.com/bpchistorictea      

 

In April we will celebrate Women In The Church      

 

On May 3 we will present The Churchmen for a real Bluegrass Cospel Concert.  The Churchmen are a nationally recognised Gospel group from nearby Colinsville, Virginia area.  Their music has earned them numerous music awards and recognition.    7 pm.

On June 1st we will begin our commoration of the June 6, 1944 D-Day Invasion of Europe at Normandy, France.  We are especially honored to present Mr. James Morrison, Historian and author of several books on D-Day and Bedford's priceless contribution to the war.  He will be talking about his book Bedford Goes to War.  This is surely an event not to be missed.  7 pm.


On June 6 the sanctuary will be open throughout the day and a Community-wide Ecumenical Union Service will be held; just as happened on D-Day.  7 pm.

 

On July 14 we will present Music in the Church with an Organ Recital accompanied by piano and choir.   Start time to be announced.
 

On August 3 and 4 the BPC Historical Drama "A Heart for God In the Heart of Bedford" will depict significant church events from the past.  7 pm.
 

On September 8 - 11 an Olde Time Tent Revival will be held outside the church.  Dr. Philip Parker will lead four nights; the theme will be New Life Spiritual Awakening.  Starting time will be at 7 pm.   

 

Beginning September 15 "The Story" Commenses.  Join us on this 31 week journey of Spiritual Growth as we study the Bible in the chronological order that it happened.  This is for everyone; young and older, beginner  or experienced student.

 

On October 5 and 6 we will celebrate A Church Homecoming.  We look forward to welcoming back former members and Pastors who have meant so much to our heritage as a congregation.
